Our Story

Product

We’re Anuja and Hemangi: sisters-in-law, creative collaborators, and the hands behind Numa. It all began with a simple weekend workshop on cold-processed soap making. What started as a curious experiment quickly became a full-blown obsession.

Our journey involved diving headfirst into the science of soap-making. We tweaked formulas, tested endlessly, and slowly developed recipes that felt uniquely ours. Through trial and error, we discovered that soap-making is a delicate, deliberate craft, one that demands both precision and patience.

Friends and family loved our creations, and their encouragement gave us the confidence to dream a little bigger. What began as a small experiment soon turned into a passion that felt bigger than the sum of its parts.

Numa was born out of our shared love for natural living, thoughtful craftsmanship, and the desire to create something beautiful and honest. We dreamed of a brand that felt personal, slow, and rooted—something that reflected our values and love for the little rituals in everyday life.

NUMA: Cold Processed Soaps

What does Numa mean?

The word Numa is born from our names, Anuja and Hemangi. It's a blend of our identities, a name that carries a piece of both of us.

It also draws inspiration from the Greek word "Pneuma," often translated as "breath of life," "spirit," or "soul." (pronounced "Numa").

To us, Numa is a reminder that every bar we craft carries something deeper—not just ingredients, but intention. Not just scent, but soul. Numa is more than a name. It's a reminder that every bar we make carries the breath, spirit, and soul of something lovingly made.
